STAFF
The MCEE staff consists of three, full-time professionals. The team works diligently to promote economic literacy throughout the state via partnerships with the education and business communities. Pamela P. Smith, Ph.D
President

Dr. Pamela P. Smith was appointed President of the Mississippi Council on Economic Education in June 2004 and joined the staff on July 1, 2004.  Previously, she served the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in Jackson, MS. as Assistant Commissioner for Public Affairs and Development since 1995.    Prior to coming to Mississippi in 1995, she served in a similar capacity in Illinois for the Board of Governors Universities from April 1980-July 1995.

 

She holds the Doctors of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership from The University of Mississippi in Oxford, the Masters of Arts (M.A.) In Educational Psychology from The University of Illinois–Springfield, IL and  the Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from MacMurray College, Jacksonville, IL.

 

She is the author of numerous publications and is a frequent presenter on the subjects of the need for higher education for a better quality of life and how to prepare your children for college.

 

She is married to Jerome W. Smith of Jackson.
