         <title>Oak Gove and Madison Central High Schools Win Economics Challenge</title>

         <description>Oak Grove High School and Madison Central High School captured top honors in the Mississippi Economics and Financial Literacy Challenge March 25 at Millsaps College in Jackson. They emerged from a field of 20 high school teams to claim the state championship in their respective divisions and will advance to regional competition in   Atlanta   in April.</description>

         <title>Teachers Open Doors for Students to Earn Prizes in the New Mississippi Economics &amp; Financial Literacy Challenges</title>

         <description>Registration is now open for the new Mississippi Economics &amp; Financial Literacy Challenges provided by the Mississippi Council on Economic Education.  High School students are eligible for both the Economics Challenge and the Financial Literacy Challenge, which are available on-line March 2-6, 2009.  Teachers can register as many teams of four students as they wish at no cost to the teams and prizes are available for students and their teachers who achieve the highest scores.  All high school are urged to participate.</description>

         <title>Winners of Fall Stock Market Competition to be Announced Today by Governor Barbour</title>

         <description>The country is in a recession yet   Mississippi's teachers are successfully teaching their students about the free enterprise system. Today, at 5 p.m. at the conclusion of the Governor's Economic Summit at the Jackson Marriott, Governor Barbour is scheduled to introduce the winner’s of the Fall 2008 Stock Market Game competition.  Twenty six hundred students from throughout the state in grades 4 through 12 have participated in the on-line program where students invest $100,000 in hypothetical cash in the real market for ten weeks.  Of these students, nearly 80 percent have grown their portfolio above the Standard and Poors 500.</description>
